Lakeshore College in Cleveland, Wisconsin, has been awarded $1.7 million in grants from the Wisconsin Technical College System. These funds are designated to expand programs and facilities at the college. Specifically, they will be used to enhance the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning installation program and the maintenance mechanic program. Another portion of the funds will purchase equipment for the college’s newly renovated and expanded Community Dental Clinic, where a new dental hygiene program is set to start in the fall of 2026.

The grant will also support dual credit courses for high school students, providing significant savings for families. During the 2023-24 academic year, 1,827 high school students earned college credits, which amounted to tuition savings of $835,000.

Dr. Paul Carlsen, President of Lakeshore College, remarked on the grant, emphasizing its impact: “We continue to be successful in securing grant funding. These $1.7 million in funds will directly benefit our students by providing new opportunities and resources to support their success.”

Lakeshore College, formerly known as Lakeshore Technical College, is a comprehensive institution offering education to over 9,000 students annually. The college has garnered national recognition, ranking second by Washington Monthly, and has received additional accolades from Forbes, WalletHub.com, and the Aspen Institute. The college was also a 2024 Bellwether Award winner.

Approximately 800 students graduate from Lakeshore each year, with associate degree graduates reporting a median salary of $55,698 within six months of completion. Besides its Cleveland campus, Lakeshore serves students in downtown Manitowoc and downtown Sheboygan and offers classes at various district locations.
