Lakeshore College in Cleveland, Wisconsin, has maintained its status as one of the four accredited welding test facilities in the state, according to a recent certification by the American Welding Society (AWS). The college first achieved this accreditation in 2020 and has since issued 159 AWS certifications to welders from both Wisconsin and other states.

David Saunders, Lakeshore College’s certified welding educator and weld test conductor for Wisconsin, stated: “Serving as an AWS accredited test facility for Wisconsin and outlying states fills a need among employers and adds another layer of welding certification available at our college.” He also mentioned that many employers prefer in-house or state-level certifications over global AWS certification. “Our expert testing team is happy to meet their needs, too,” he added.

In the past 18 months, nearly 300 certifications have been awarded across all levels by the testing team. AWS certifications are recognized globally and offer welders opportunities for higher wages and responsibilities. These certifications allow welders to carry their credentials worldwide, broadening their career prospects.
