The American Association of Community Colleges has recognized Mark Lorier, an instructor at Lakeshore College, as one of its 2025 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty. Lorier, who teaches computer numerically controlled machine tooling, is the seventh faculty member from Lakeshore to receive this honor since the program’s inception in 2018.

The award honors individuals making a difference both inside and outside the classroom and is named after former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell.

Lorier joined Lakeshore College in 2012. He is a graduate of the Wisconsin Technical College System and holds several national certifications in his field. He founded Lakeshore’s Machining Club and participates on various college committees. Lorier will be honored at a ceremony on April 16 in Nashville.

Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen commented on Lorier’s impact: “As a quiet leader, Mark has a significant impact on our students, faculty, and college. Manufacturing is the largest industry sector in our district and the programs he teaches are critical to our local employers who seek our graduates.”

Carlsen also noted Lorier’s role in launching Rocket Academy, Wisconsin’s first advanced manufacturing technology charter school, as well as his contributions to Registered Apprenticeship and Youth Apprenticeship programs.

Previously recognized faculty members from Lakeshore include Kelly Konrath (math), Julie Konik (psychology), Sarah Bornemann (information technology web and software development), Jeremy Pagel (sociology), Paul Benfield (information technology), and David Saunders (welding).

Dr. Carlsen emphasized the significance of these recognitions: “Faculty from around the country get nominated for this prestigious recognition. Having Lakeshore individuals recognized year after year is not only an honor but evidence of their exceptional talent and dedication to our students.”
