Students from Sheboygan South High School have collaborated with the Sheboygan Area School District Instructional Technology Team to create a custom Lakeland University logo. The initiative began at Lakeland University’s annual STEAMFest, where over 1,500 fourth- and fifth-grade students participated in activities that contributed to the base of the logo. These activities were designed to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and engagement with science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
Following STEAMFest, high school students took on the task of completing the logo. Under guidance from their art department teachers, they cut and assembled four-by-eight-foot panels to form the finished piece. The production process lasted about three weeks.
Hailey Fischer, a junior at Sheboygan South High School who led the student team responsible for assembling the panels and maintaining accuracy throughout the project, said she will begin coursework through Lakeland University’s nursing program next semester. This adds another link between the project and Lakeland’s ongoing efforts in education partnerships and career pathway programs.
The completed logo is set to be installed on Lakeland University’s campus. Details regarding its permanent location will be announced soon.
“Thank you to Brian, Amy, Hailey, Mike and the educators and students who support K–12 STEAM education and collaborative learning initiatives,” reads a statement from those involved in the project.
