Lakeland University will host new STEAM summer camps for local youth in partnership with Club SciKidz, starting the week of July 27. The full-day, weeklong camps will be held on Lakeland’s main campus and are designed for students ages 6–15. Participants will have the chance to explore subjects such as robotics, science, engineering, and medicine.
The camps run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended care options available. The staff-to-student ratio is set at 10:1 to provide more personalized instruction in small groups.
Campers will complete at least 15 hands-on projects each week, including building, testing, designing, and experimenting with real tools and materials. These programs aim to provide immersive experiences that go beyond traditional worksheets and passive learning.
This marks the first year that Club SciKidz will operate at Lakeland University, expanding access to STEM learning opportunities for families in Sheboygan County.
“Students don’t just learn about science and technology — they experience it,” said Tanzania Sewell, managing director of Club SciKidz. “They leave each week with projects they’ve built themselves and confidence in what they can create.”
Enrollment is now open for camps beginning July 27. Space is limited due to the focus on small-group instruction.
