John Wyatt, the Chair of Lakeshore College’s District Board of Trustees, has been elected as the president of the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association. His one-year term will commence on July 1.

Wyatt has been part of Lakeshore’s Board since 2017, holding positions such as secretary/treasurer and vice chair before becoming board chair in 2023. He is also a member of the IT Advisory Committee.

Dr. Paul Carlsen, President of Lakeshore College, commented on Wyatt’s new role: “We congratulate John on his appointment to the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association. His wealth of knowledge will serve him well in this capacity. John’s expertise and perspective has been an asset to Lakeshore College’s District Board and will now serve as a bridge between activity at our college and the state level.”

The association provides a platform for trustees from community-based technical colleges across Wisconsin to collaborate and share ideas. It comprises 144 district board members from 16 technical college districts.

Wyatt expressed his enthusiasm for his new position: “I’m honored to serve as president of the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association. I look forward to working alongside other college board members to advance community and technical education across Wisconsin.” He emphasized his priorities, stating, “My top priorities are to increase the level of collaboration between all 16 colleges in the technical college system and to provide meaningful educational opportunities for our board members — ensuring they are well-informed, well-equipped, and empowered to serve their colleges and communities with excellence.”
