The City of Manitowoc has announced that downtown snow removal will begin at midnight tonight and continue into Monday morning. Property owners in the immediate downtown area are instructed to have their sidewalk and right-of-way snow cleared before midnight.

According to city guidelines, only snow from sidewalks and right-of-ways may be pushed into the parking lane. The announcement reiterates Ordinance 7.210 (3), which states: “It shall be unlawful for any person to deposit, or cause to be deposited, any snow or ice onto any street, alley, walkway, lake, river, pond, or other public place in the City of Manitowoc.”

Violations of this ordinance may result in citations issued by the Manitowoc Police Department.

Residents are reminded that crews do not remove snow left on top of curbs or sidewalks. Snow should be moved off the curb and placed in small piles along the parking lane rather than large ones to ensure visibility at corners. Additionally, moving snow from private parking lots into streets is prohibited under city rules.

The city advises property owners not to push snow in front of neighboring businesses and emphasizes compliance with these regulations for efficient cleanup operations.
