The Cedar Grove-Belgium Area School District has announced updated guidelines for student attendance at high school co-curricular events. The changes are aimed at improving safety and ensuring a positive environment during sporting events.
According to the new policy, elementary and middle school students must now be accompanied by an adult when attending high school co-curricular activities. This measure is intended to provide each student with an adult point of contact in case any issues arise.
The district also clarified expectations for student behavior during these events. All students are required to remain in the gym while attending, and appropriate cheering is encouraged. However, students should not run under the bleachers, in the commons, or in hallways. If students do not follow these rules, they will be asked to sit with their accompanying adult in the gym. If a student does not have an accompanying adult present, their parent or guardian will be contacted to pick them up.
“We are so thankful for the incredible support our sports teams receive from our families and community! To help ensure that everyone can enjoy our sporting events safely, we have updated our expectations for students attending co-curricular events,” said a statement from the district.
“Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our events safe, positive, and enjoyable for everyone!” added the district.
