Fox Valley, WI—Career EXCELerate Wisconsin is set to celebrate the achievements of over 65 students who have earned educational certificates through a collaborative program. This initiative, supported by a Workforce Innovation Grant from the state of Wisconsin, began in summer 2022 and involves Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (Goodwill NCW), Fox Valley Technical College, and Rawhide Youth Services.

Governor Evers expressed satisfaction with the grant’s creation: “I was glad to create the Workforce Innovation Grant to help communities across our state respond to and address regional workforce needs, and this program is exemplary of the amazing work that can be accomplished through local partnerships and collaboration.” He highlighted the program’s role in preparing students for careers in fields like welding, plumbing, early childhood education, and nursing assistance.

The program reached a milestone on March 7 with 200 participants employed. By April 2025, it exceeded its goal by serving 633 individuals—173 more than initially targeted. Furthermore, it surpassed its one-year employment retention rate goal by achieving a 78% rate instead of the anticipated 55%. Due to these successes, the grant has been extended until June 2026 and will now include all unemployed or underemployed individuals.

Missy Hughes, Secretary and CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, praised Career EXCELerate: “Career EXCELerate Wisconsin is doing an outstanding job of helping workers succeed in some of our state’s most in-demand fields.” She congratulated all partners involved for reaching this significant milestone.

Chris Hess, President and CEO at Goodwill NCW stated: “Career EXCELerate is creating life-changing opportunities for people to pursue in-demand careers.” He emphasized gratitude for state support enabling this innovative approach.

Career EXCELerate offers free career-training programs with personalized support. It aims to prepare individuals for specific high-demand roles while providing future career development options. Educational tracks include Certified Nursing Assistant (online and classroom), Patient Care Tech, Manufacturing Technician, Welding Fundamentals, Professional Truck Driving – Class A, Retail Essentials, and Certified Direct Care Professional (online).

The completion ceremony will take place on May 16 at Fox Valley Technical College. Media representatives are invited to attend. Chris Hess along with State Representatives will be available for comments.
