Ascend Services is set to host its sixth annual “Throw with All Your Heart” fundraiser on April 12, 2025, at Tapped on the Lakeshore in Two Rivers. This event aims to support Ascend’s mission of empowering individuals with diverse abilities. Executive Director Deanna Genske reflected on the event’s history, stating, “Our very first ‘Throw with All Your Heart’ was held in February of 2020—just weeks before the world changed due to the pandemic. We’re so grateful to see this event thrive and reach its sixth year.”

The fundraiser will feature five competitions: axe throwing, golf, hammerschlagen, shuffleboard, and cornhole. A highlight is the Celebrity Axe Throwing Competition involving seven local figures. For a $5 entry fee, attendees can compete against these celebrities for bragging rights. Deanna noted, “The Celebrity Axe Throwing adds an element of fun and brings the community together while featuring familiar faces from Manitowoc County.”

Participants include Mayor Justin Nickels and other notable local figures such as Troy Adams and Jason Latva. The celebrity who raises the most funds during their session will receive a special prize.

Additional activities include a silent auction with gift baskets and prizes, a Wine Pull, and a 50/50 raffle. Deanna expressed excitement about new additions to enhance guest experiences: “We’ve worked hard to enhance the experience for our guests this year. We’re thrilled to add new games and prizes to keep things fresh and engaging.”

Tapped on the Lakeshore partners in hosting the event. Sam Busse oversees axe-throwing competitions. Deanna praised Tapped’s support: “Tapped has been an incredible partner, welcoming us back year after year. Their generosity and support are invaluable to making this event a success.”

This fundraiser supports over 200 youth and adults with disabilities in Manitowoc County by fostering growth through community involvement, education, and employment opportunities. Deanna concluded that “‘Throw With All Your Heart’ is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of community, inclusion, and the meaningful work we do at Ascend.”
